Meet the hosts: Teach Portsmouth Awards 2025

Introducing this year's hosts, headteachers Ashley Howard and Zoe Killick

The countdown is on for the Teach Portsmouth Awards, taking place on Thursday 12 June. Education professionals from across the city will gather at Portsmouth Guildhall to celebrate exceptional achievements across 12 award categories.

This year, we're thrilled to welcome two local headteachers as our hosts for the ceremony. Ashley Howard, headteacher at Mayfield School, and Zoe Killick, headteacher at St Paul's Catholic Primary School and Nursery, will lead the evening's celebrations.

We caught up with Ashley and Zoe to learn more about their backgrounds and what the awards mean to them.

Can you tell us a little about your background in education?

Ashley:

"I've been working in education in Portsmouth since 2013 and I am currently the headteacher at Mayfield School. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with some incredible teams, including during my time at Highbury Primary Academy, where I was honoured to receive the People's Choice Award in 2022."

Zoe:

"I am currently the headteacher at St Paul's Catholic Primary School and Nursery and have worked in the city since 2003. I'm excited to join everyone on stage and to recognise all those who have gone above and beyond."

What impact do celebrations such as the Teach Portsmouth Awards have on the city's education community?

Zoe:

"The Teach Portsmouth Awards are an opportunity to highlight, celebrate and share the hidden gems and excellent work going on in our schools."

What makes the Teach Portsmouth Awards such a special event for the city?

Ashley:

"The Teach Portsmouth Awards is a truly special event because it shines a spotlight on the incredible dedication, passion, and hard work of educators across the city.

"It's a moment to celebrate the people who make a real difference in the lives of children and young people every single day. For Portsmouth, it's not just about recognising outstanding teaching—it's about coming together as a community to show our appreciation for those who help shape the future of our city."

What message would you like to share with the nominees ahead of the ceremony?
